Birthplace: Brazil

PhD in Geography from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and PhD in Historical, Geographical, and Anthropological Studies from the University of Padua (UNIPD), Italy. He holds a Masters degree in Geography from UFMG and a Bachelor's degree in Geography from the University Center of Sete Lagoas. He is currently affiliated with the Postdoctoral Program at the School of Education of the University of São Paulo (USP), with a research grant from FAPESP. During his doctoral studies, he focused on comparing the BNCC (Brazilian National Common Curricular Base) for Geography with the Italian national curriculum guidelines, aiming to understand the relationship between the epistemology of Geographical Science, the use of fundamental concepts in interpreting the spatiality of facts and phenomena, and their implications for Geography Education, based on the analysis of these normative documents. At present, during his postdoctoral stage, he continues to deepen his studies on the interpretation of spatial facts and phenomena, with the category of landscape as a guiding thread in a project involving continuing education for public school teachers. He has teaching experience at primary, secondary, and higher education levels and has held positions such as coordinating teams of Geography teachers, supervising pedagogical projects, curating teaching materials, and analyzing assessment data. In higher education, he has taught in undergraduate programs in Geography, History, and Pedagogy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais. He was a member of the entrance exam evaluation committee at UFMG from 2009 to 2013 and is the author of educational materials. His doctoral dissertation was selected to represent the Graduate Program in Geography at the Institute of Geosciences at UFMG for the 2023 Capes Thesis Award and the Nídia Nacib Pontuschka Award for Geography Education.
