CV Lattes ORCID

Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Instituto Alberto Luiz Coimbra de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa (COPPE)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (1988), a Masters degree (1991), and a Ph.D. (1994) in Chemistry (Physical Chemistry) from the same institution. During my Ph.D., I completed a research internship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Currently, I am an Associate Professor in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Program at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).My research focuses on the aging and degradation of polymers, composites, and elastomers, as well as the recycling of engineering polymers. In the laboratory where I work, we investigate the effects of CO#8322;, including its supercritical state, on the properties of polymers and thermoplastic matrix composites. We also study the aging of polymers obtained from decommissioned flexible pipes in the offshore industry, evaluating how morphological changes influence their gas permeation properties.I coordinate the Human Resources Training Program 7.1 (PRH-ANP), focusing on Structural Integrity for the oil, gas, and renewable energy industries. Since July 2024, I have been serving as Deputy Director of Technology and Innovation at Coppe/UFRJ. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
