Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is linked to polyuria, polydipsia, proteinuria and cachexia. Cachexia can be described as loss of lean body mass caused by disease and, in dogs with CKD, comes from protein catabolism, which occurs when the energy intake is not sufficient.
