Dr. Cristiano R. W. Guimarães received his Ph.D. in Theoretical/Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2001 under the supervision of Prof. Ricardo Bicca de Alencastro, followed by a post-doctorate on modeling of enzymatic reactions and computer-aided drug design with Prof. William Jorgensen at Yale University. He first worked at Amgen and then Pfizer, both in the US, as a Senior Principal Scientist. In 2014, Dr. Guimarães returned to Brazil to lead the Radical Innovation Unit at Aché Laboratórios Farmacêuticos. Dr. Guimarães left Aché in early 2021 to start a biotech in Brazil called Nintx (Next Innovative Therapeutics). Throughout his career, Dr. Guimarães received several national and international distinctions and authored 70 publications and patents. Due to the impact of his work, Dr. Guimarães is among the Top 2 percent most influential scientists in the world according to Elsevier. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
