Aída Pontes is an Architect and Urban Planner from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB, 2004), with a Masters degree in Urban Engineering from UFPB (2007) and a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands (2018). She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP), developing the study "Development of an instrument to support and promote neighborhood planning in the municipality of São Paulo." Previously, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Energy and Environment (IEE) at USP, contributing to the development of the Master Plan for the USP Capital Butantã Campus, focusing on mobility.With over a decade of academic experience, she has taught urban planning and design courses at UniFacisa. Additionally, she worked at the Campina Grande Planning Department, where she coordinated the revision of the city's Master Plan and served as Manager of Architectural and Urban Design Projects. In this role, she led structural urban and architectural projects for the city, including public space and road interventions.She was the General Manager of the IAB/Urban95 Project, where she coordinated the development of initiatives focused on early childhood, including the Child-Friendly Neighborhood Plan for the Sumaré neighborhood in Sobral-CE. She also served as Director of the Street Laboratory (LabRua) and participated in the development of Master Plans for various municipalities in Paraíba, as a fellow of FUNETEC/PB. From 2014 to 2024, she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB), serving as President of the Paraíba Department from 2020 to 2022.
