Diná de Almeida Lopes Monteiro da Cruz obtained a Nursing Baccalaureate Degree in 1979, a Master in Nursing Science in 1989, and a PhD in 1995 from the University of São Paulo, and attended a post-doctorate program at School of Nursing, Boston College, Massachussets, in 2004. Currently she is a Full Professor - Senior at the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department, School of Nursing, University of São Paulo, teaches at master and doctoral programs, prepares researchers at masters, doctoral and post-doctoral levels. In the research and extension fields, she coordinates projects on clinical reasoning, nursing classifications and concepts, nursing process, and evidence based health care, on topics predominantly related to cardiovascular and other chronic illnesses. She has served as the Director of the School of Nursing of the University of São Paulo from 2011 through 2015, as well as the Director of the Brazilian Centre for Evidence-based Healthcare: A Joanna Briggs Institute Centre of Excellence from 2009-2011, and from 2015-2017.
