Vinicius Maracaja-Coutinho is a Biologist from the Federal University of Paraíba (Brazil) with a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of São Paulo (Brazil), currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Chile. There, he leads the Graduate Program in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and directs the Advanced Genomics Unit (UGA). Vinicius is also a Permanent Professor in the Master and PhD Programs in Bioinformatics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil) and the founder of Beagle Bioinformatics, a Chilean-Brazilian enterprise. Dr. Maracaja-Coutinho has contributed as a visiting researcher at different institutions, including the Federal University of Paraíba and the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil), the Fiocruz Foundation (Brazil), the Gurdon Institute at the University of Cambridge (UK), and the IRD Center in France. He also served as a consultant for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a United Nations affiliate, as well as performed as the first President of the Chilean Bioinformatics Society and currently contributes as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB).
