É pesquisador do Instituto de Estudos Avançados (IEAv), professor do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências e Tecnologias Espaciais do Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) e professor do Programa de Pós-Graduação da REDEMAT - Rede Temática em Engenharia de Materiais da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP). É especializado em metalurgia física e em aplicações industriais de lasers, atuando principalmente nos temas: soldagem a laser, tratamentos de superfície, manufatura aditiva e nanotecnologia.
