Birthplace: Brazil

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) (2009) and PhD in Biochemistry from University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (2014). Andrey Nascimento has experience in Structural Biology, Macromolecular Crystallography, Molecular Biology and Pharmacology. He was undergraduate student at Laboratory of Experimental Pharmacology (UFSC) working manly on the study of signalling pathways involved in inflammatory and pain processes. The PhD was developed at the Brazilian Biosciences National Laboratory (LNBio - CNPEM) working with Molecular Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics with emphasis in macromolecular crystallography, biochemistry and spectroscopy of macromolecules, in which revealed for the first time the structure of the cargo-binding domain of the three human myosin V, and worked with new phasing methods. Besides, Andrey stayed for 2 months at the Structural Genomics Consortium of the University of Oxford (United Kingdom) and 3 months at Institut de Biologia Molecular de Barcelona (Spain), which performed structural genomics studies of non-conventional myosins and development of ab initio method for medium to low resolution data, respectively. Andrey was Post-doctoral fellow at Instituto Carlos Chagas (FIOCRUZ/PR); Institut de Biologia Molecular de Barcelona (Spain) which takes part of a collaborative project with ALBA-CELLS synchrotron (Spain), aiming the extension of the resolution limits of the ARCIMBOLDO programs, which perform macromolecular ab initio phasing and can deal with difficult molecular replacement problem; and at macromolecular crystallography beamline (MANACÁ) of the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS-CNPEM). Currently, he is coordinator of MANACÁ beamline of the Sirius (LNLS-CNPEM), working mainly in the development of new methods of data collection and phasing. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
