Full Professor of the Institute of Physics, University of São Paulo. Director of the Institute of Physics (08/19-08/23). Member of the USP Budget Committee (11/21 - 08/23). President of the USP Budget Committee 8/22 to 3/23. Bachelor in Physics (1977) at USP, Master in Nuclear Physics (1983) and Doctor in Sciences (1991), from USP. Post-Doctorate in materials science and magnetic thin films at the IBM-Almaden Research Center, in the USA (1994-1996). From 1979-1990 developed research on air pollution and atmospheric aerosols with the installation of the PIXE Method of Elemental Analysis at IFUSP. Collaborated (2008-2009) with the Laboratory for Aerosols, Clouds and Optics, LACO, at UMBC-USA, on experimental studies on the interaction of aerosols and water vapor. Coordinator of LAMFI (Laboratory of Materials and Ionic Beams) at IFUSP (1996-2020). His current and main research interest is the interaction of energetic ions (~MeV) in matter, measurements of stopping power, scattering cross sections and applications for the modification and the analysis of materials (PIXE, ERDA, RBS). Development of portable instrumentation for XRF and XRD and its application in arteometry and archeology. He is a member of the Applied Physics with Accelerators Group, GFAA.
