Henrique Rosa Varella

Researcher in the area of #8203;#8203;Systematics and Evolution of neotropical fish, with emphasis on Biodiversity, Comparative Anatomy, Phylogeny, Taxonomy, Biogeography and Ecology. Academic publications are related to the Cichlidae family, master's dissertation themes and researcher's doctorate, but the projects in which it participates also encompass other taxonomic groups of freshwater fish. Likewise, the publications were results of studies using only morphological data, but the researcher's recent projects are aimed at integrating morphological and molecular data into phylogenetic and phylogeographic analyzes.He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of São Carlos - UFSCar (2009). Master in Zoology from the University of São Paulo - Institute of Bioscience / Museum of Zoology (2011). PhD in Zoology from the University of São Paulo - Institute of Bioscience / Museum of Zoology (2016), and Post-Doctor by the Biology Institute of the Federal University of Bahia. He is currently doing a Phylogenomics study through a postdoctoral fellowship at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp-Botucatu), in collaboration with the Museum of Zoology of USP, where he is an associate researcher, and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he developed prt of his post doc project.In addition to academic research, he carries out environmental impact analysis and monitoring of ichthyofauna consultancies. As a taxonomist, he participates in official conservation activities, such as workshops to evaluate the state of conservation of species and commissions for the elaboration of red lists of fish threatened with extinction (ICMBio / MMA and Fundação Zoológico and SEMA-SP, respectively).
