I am a specialist in structural and evolutionary botany, with an emphasis on morphology, anatomy, molecular biology, and plant development, investigating the evolution of organs and tissues in land plants. I have a particular interest in seed-free plants and angiosperms with unusual morphologies. My experience includes studies on ferns, lycophytes, hornworts, Orchidaceae, Caryophyllales, Caprifoliaceae, Sapindales, and fossil groups, with a strong interest in expanding this scope. I am the author of book chapters and other educational materials aimed at primary and secondary education. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Molecular Plant Sciences, University of Edinburgh. I hold a bachelor's and teaching degree in Biological Sciences, and a master's and PhD in Biological Sciences (Botany) from the Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo (IB-USP), with postdoctoral research conducted at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, the Institute of Botany of São Paulo, and the Czech Academy of Sciences.
