Born in Sao Paulo in 1986, Eduardo Wilde Barbaro is a PhD student of the Meteorology and Air Quality Group (MAQ) at Wageningen University in the Netherlands since September 2010. Prior to coming to Wageningen, Eduardo obtained his BSc (2005-2008, with honours) and MSc (2009-2010) degrees in Meteorology at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. For much of his academic career, Eduardo has focused on Meteorology, especially observations, data analysis and modeling of the atmospheric boundary layer (stable and convective). During 2012 Eduardo served as PhD representative towards the MAQ department. Since 2010 Eduardo also acts as a reviewer of the Brazilian Journal of Meteorology and of the Atmospheric Environment Journal (2014). Eduardo has won 3 awards as best oral presentation , including an internship visit to Rutgers University in 2008 granted to the top 3 students of exact sciences field of the University of São Paulo. In 2013 he was also elected member of the American Meteorological Society s committee on boundary-layers and turbulence for a fixed two-year term. His BSc research project was about the observational characterization of the atmospheric longwave radiation in the city of São Paulo. His MSc thesis addressed the development of a statistical algorithm and the investigation of the nocturnal atmospheric boundary layer in the metropolitan area of São Paulo by means of a large-eddy simulation model. His current academic work focuses on understanding the role of aerosols in the convective boundary layer dynamics and further impacts on air quality. Specifically, his PhD addresses the coupling between aerosols, radiation and the land-atmosphere system under a large-eddy simulation framework. His daily supervisor and co-promoter is Dr. Jordi Vilà-Guerau de Arellano and his PhD promoters are Prof. Dr. Maarten Krol and Prof. Dr. Bert Holtslag. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
