Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto (FMRP)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a PhD in Sciences from the Graduate Program in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto (2015), a Masters degree in Sciences from the same program (2011), and a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences (Teaching and Research tracks) from the Federal University of Maranhão (2008). After completing my PhD, I worked as a Senior Research Technician at the University of York, United Kingdom, and I am currently a Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH, USA).I have over a decade of international experience at the intersection of genomics, parasitology, and hostparsites interactions, with training and research conducted at leading institutions in Brazil, the UK, and the United States. My work integrates genetics (omics), molecular and cell biology, and parasitology, combined with high-throughput sequencing technologies (PacBio, Nanopore, MinION), to advance our understanding of microbehost dynamics in health and disease. My current research focuses on: Characterizing novel commensal protists in laboratory mice and their influence on host microbiota Generating high-quality reference genomes for Tritrichomonas musculus and Tritrichomonas casperi Investigating interactions between protozoa and their bacterial endosymbionts Developing CES-Seq, a capture-based method for direct sequencing of parasites (Cryptosporidium and Leishmania) genomes from host samples.I am deeply committed to scientific innovation, translational impact, and fostering collaborative and inclusive research environments. I am also a mother, which shapes my perspective on mentorship, resilience, and equity in science. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
