graduate in English at Universidade de São Paulo (1957), M.A. in English from Universidade de São Paulo (1969), Ph.D. in Linguistics from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1972), and post-doctotoral studies at Harvard, UCLA, USC, U of Maryland and NYU.She has experience in Linguistics, acting on the following subjects: Portuguese syntax, Romance syntax, Diachronic Linguistics and Language acquisition. She was the founder of the journal DELTA. She has supervised 28 PH.D.s and 40 MAs in linguistics. She had a CNPq grant in research for almost 30years. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)

Adopting the theoretical perspective of the Minimalist Program (Chomsky 1995, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005a, 2005b), the goal of this project is to investigate the mapping between the syntactic component, on the one hand, and the morphological, phonological and semantic components, on the other, based on the syntactic properties of Brazilian Portuguese.
