Professor in the Graduate Program in Wood Science and Technology (PPGCTM) at the Federal University of Lavras. Works in the area of fermentative and enzymatic processes aiming at the production of bioproducts and biofuels. Among his research areas are kinetics, modeling, simulation, and optimization of bioprocesses, with emphasis on lignocellulosic biomass pretreatment technologies, enzymatic hydrolysis of sugarcane bagasse, and simultaneous saccharification and fermentation for ethanol production. Currently coordinates research projects related to the production, characterization, and drying of bacterial nanocellulose aiming at its application as reinforcement in composites and in the production of transdermal adhesives using active principles from medicinal plants.
