Livia Oushiro holds a bachelor's degree in History (2003), a bachelor's degree in Linguistics (2008), and a Ph.D. in Linguistics (2015) from the University of São Paulo. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Linguistics and the Graduate Program in Linguistics at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), where she coordinates the VARIEM Laboratory Variation, Identity, Style, and Change. She has experience in the field of Linguistics, with an emphasis on Variationist Sociolinguistics, focusing mainly on the following topics: dialect contact, linguistic production and perception, São Paulo Portuguese, and the development and dissemination of new analytical tools. In addition to authoring articles and book chapters in national and international publications, she published the book Introduction to Statistics for Linguists (Editora da ABRALIN) and has offered dozens of workshops, lectures, and conferences on her research findings and computational tools for linguists. She co-edited the dossiers Sociolinguistic Perceptions and Attitudes: The Social Meanings of Variation in Revista Todas as Letras 18(2), with Ronald Beline Mendes; Sociolinguistics in Brazil: Shifts and Boundaries in Revista Domínios da Lingu@gem 13(4), with Raquel Freitag; and Linguistic Variation and Social Practices: Language, Culture, and Society in Organon 37(73), with Elisa Battisti. In collaboration with Plinio Almeida Barbosa (UNICAMP) and Jennifer Nycz (Georgetown University), she is currently developing the project Cohesion and Dispersion: A Sociophonetic Analysis of Idiolectal Variation in Dialect Contact Situations, funded by FAPESP (23/00968-7). She also created the silac and dmsocio applications for linguistic analysis. She currently serves as Research Coordinator and a member of the Privacy and Data Protection Management Committee (CGPPD) at IEL. In administration, she is also a member of the IEL/UNICAMP Congregation and a participant in the IEL Planes Working Group. Since July 2023, she has been President of the Linguistics Studies Group of the State of São Paulo (GEL - 2023-2025 term), responsible for organizing the GEL Seminar, the Linguistics Studies School, and publishing Revista do GEL and Revista Estudos Linguísticos. She is also co-coordinator of Axis 4 of the Sociolinguistics Working Group of ANPOLL and a member of the Scientific Committee on Sociolinguistics of ABRALIN. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
