Associate Professor IV in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), since 2010. A Level 1D Research Productivity Fellow of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and leader of the Laboratory of Applied Materials and Interfaces (established in 2013, DGP/CNPq). Holds a leadership position as President of the Graduate Studies Chamber at UFRGS (2024present) and has been a member since 2022. Member of the University Council (2024present), the Teaching, Research, and Extension Council (2024present and 20222024), and the Director Council of the UFRGS Center for Microscopy and Microanalysis (20192021 and 2021present). Previously served as the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Materials Science (PPGCIMAT/UFRGS) from 2019 to 2021 and 2021 to 2022, and as a member of the Scientific and Administrative Council of the UFRGS Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Center from 2015 to 2019. Holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the State University of Maringá (2003), a masters degree (2005), and a doctorate in Chemistry (2009) from the same institution, with part of the doctoral research conducted at the University of Victoria, BC, Canada (20072009). Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Physics, University of São Paulo in São Carlos (20092010). Began his independent research career at UFRGS in 2010. Currently a permanent faculty member in the Graduate Programs in Materials Science and Chemistry. His research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of quantum dots and semiconductor nanostructures for energy conversion systems, with a recent emphasis on the use of Artificial Intelligence to predict synthesis routes for nanomaterials. He has received several awards, including the F.M. Becket Award from the International Society of Electrochemistry in 2008, the Professor Yeda Pinheiro Dick Medal from the Institute of Chemistry in 2015, and recognition as a "New Talent: Americas" by Dalton Transactions (RSC) in 2016, and as an Emerging Investigator by Crystal Growth Design (ACS) in 2022. He was also awarded the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Renewable Energy in 2025. Served as a Visiting Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2012 and at the University of Victoria, Canada, in 2018 and 20222023. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
