Benedito Carlos Prezoto

Graduated in Medicine, in June 1980, at the Faculty of Medicine of Vassouras, RJ. In 1986, he entered level I in the career of Scientific Researcher (Pharmacology laboratory - Instituto Butantan), in a competition organized by the Permanent Committee of the Full-Time Regime (CPRTI). CPRTI, currently under the Secretariat of Public Management, is the state government unit responsible for planning, organizing and executing the evaluation of the scientific and technical activity of researchers from research institutions of direct administration and the State Endemic Control Superintendence of São Paulo, as well as competitions for entry into the career of scientific researcher covered by Complementary Law 125/75. From 03/10/1993 to 03/10/1995 - Master's degree, specialization area Molecular Biology - Thesis title: Snakes as an adequate physiological model for the study of Hageman's deficiency - date of obtaining the master's degree in 03/10/1995, at the Department of Biochemistry, Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP);- From 03/10/1996 to 06/10/2000 - Doctorate, specialization area "General Bases of Surgery and Experimental Surgery" - Title of the thesis: "Anti-thrombotic effect of the bristle extract of the Lonomia obliqua caterpillar in experimental thrombosis" - date of obtaining the title of Doctor on 11/22/2000 at the Department of Surgery and Orthopedics, Faculty of Medicine of Botucatu - Universidade Estadual Paulista - UNESP;He is currently a scientific researcher V at the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Butantan Institute. Among his lines of research are works related to: (1) Toxins and Systems, (2) Bioprospecting and Development and (3) Mechanism of action of factor XII of blood coagulation. It maintains collaboration with several research groups at the Butantan Institute, carrying out bioassays that focus on pathophysiological changes caused by venomous snakes and caterpillars on the mammalian blood coagulation system.
