Matheus Henrique Gomes Monteiro

PhD. and Master in Philosophy (Unicamp), Matheus is a postdoctoral researcher at IFHC, Unicamp (2024-2026). He works in the area of #8203;#8203;Philosophy, with an emphasis on the History of Medieval and Early Modern Philosophy, focusing his studies on philosophical issues of ancient and medieval authors and their reception in the early modern period. He also works on the development of teaching materials. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy in 2011 from UNICAMP. He was a Fapesp IC scholarship holder from 2009 to 2011, with the research "Tomás de Aquino e a pós-doc de uma universo criar e eterna" (Thomas Aquinas and the possibility of a created and eternal universe), on the logical possibility of the created and eternal and problems related to divine omnipotence. Later, he was a CNPq IC scholarship holder, researching the difference between generation and creation. In 2012, he enrolled in the master's program in Philosophy at UNICAMP, where he developed research with the support of FAPESP. In 2014, he obtained his master's degree with a dissertation on the reality of possible uncreated beings in the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas. In 2024, he obtained his doctorate in Philosophy (CAPES scholarship) with a thesis on the possible influence of John Philoponus of Alexandria on Thomas Aquinas in the discussion on the generation and corruption of celestial bodies. He is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at IFCH, Unicamp.
