Ederlan de Souza Ferreira

Associate Professor in the Department of Food Analysis at the School of Pharmacy of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). He works in teaching, research, outreach, and innovation in Biochemistry and Food Analysis. He is currently vice-coordinator of the Graduate Program in Food Science (PGAli/UFBA) and coordinator of the Food and Contaminant Research and Analysis Laboratory (LAPAAC). He works in Food Science, with an emphasis on Food Biochemistry, Structural/Functional Characterization of Proteins, Bioactive Peptides, and Experimental Nutrition. He is an affiliated member of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), the Brazilian Society for Food Science and Technology (sbCTA), and the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC). He serves as a reviewer for several food science journals (Food Chemistry, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Journal of Functional Foods, Brazilian Journal of Food and Technology, Food Bioscience, Journal of Medicinal Food, and Food Science Nutrition). He collaborates internationally with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC, USA), the University of Milan (UNIMI, Italy), and the University of Antioquia (UdeA, Colombia), as well as with researchers from Brazilian institutions such as UNESP, UNICAMP, USP, SENAI-CIMATEC, and UESB. He is a board member of the Institute of Science and Technology in the Meat Production Chain (CNPq/INCT - Meat) and the Pro-Food Network: Science, Innovation, and Technology (FAPESB/INCITE). He also participates as a researcher in the Blue Nanobiotechnology Network RENAZUL (CNPq - Network with Brazilians Abroad). He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC, USA) in 2023. Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Food Science (PGAli) for two terms (2025-2022 and 2022-2020) and head of the Department of Bromatological Analysis also for two terms (2020-2018 and 2018-2016).
