She holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1988), a PhD in Sciences - Experimental Pathophysiology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (2002) and a Post-Doctorate in Molecular Biology (2008-2010) from the Biological Institute of São Paulo and the University of Florida - US (2019). She is a Scientific Researcher at the Fisheries Institute of São Paulo and has experience in the areas of Aquaculture (emphasis on Ranching), Aquatic Ecotoxicology and Health of Aquatic Organisms, working mainly on the following topics: physical and prophylactic management, aquatic toxicology and ecotoxicology, breeding techniques, water quality, bioinvasion, emerging diseases in Aquatic Organisms and cell culture of ectotherm cells. She was coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Aquaculture and Fisheries at the São Paulo Fisheries Institute (2010-2012) and Dean of Research from 2010 to 2014. She held the positions of Technical Advisor to the Board of Directors until June 2021 and Coordinator of the Interinstitutional Aquaculture Health Laboratory of the São Paulo State Department of Agriculture. She was coordinator of the PIBIC/CNPq Program from 2014 to 2016. She was a member of the SAA's Technical Commission on Aquaculture in São Paulo, which issues opinions on this subject in the state, and has also been a CNPq productivity grant holder from 2013 to 2016 and 2017 to 2020. She is currently Pro-Rector of Research for the Postgraduate Program in Aquaculture and Fisheries and Editor-in-Chief of the Fisheries Institute Bulletin. She is a member of CONBIO (international ecotoxicology research network - https://www.conbio.csic.es/) and also coordinates and collaborates on projects with national funding agencies, and provides consultancy in areas of her expertise to government, private and third sector bodies.
