Bachelor in Geology from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (1995) and PhD in Geophysics from Universidade de São Paulo (1999). He is currently full professor at Universidade de São Paulo, where he acted as Vice-Director (2017-2021) and Director (2021-today). Has experience in Geosciences, focusing on Rock Magnetism, Paleomagnetism and Archeomagnetism. Main research topics are paleoenvironmental changes through Earth's history, particularly the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary, the major biotic crisis in the Phanerozoic and the recent variations of the Earth's magnetic field. He is a full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), the São Paulo State Science Academy (ACIESP), and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
