Graduation in biological sciences by the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", Sofia, Bulgaria and Master Degree by the same institution (2005); PhD degree in clinical virology (2009) by the National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases-NCPID, Ministry of Health, Sofia, Bulgaria. Postdoctoral training by the Department of Internal Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (2013). Currently is a researcher in the Butantan Institute and coordinates Young Investigator project (FAPESP, from 2018). Gives lectures in metagenomics in the postgraduation programs in the University of São Paulo. Orientates students by the programs in Clinical Oncology, Stem Cells and Cell Therapy as well as Internal Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine in Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo. His professional experience is concentrated in the area of clinical virology and principally infectious diseases transmitted by blood transfusion including metagenomics, next-generation sequencing, diagnostics and epidemiology of infectious diseases. He has collaborations with the Pasteur Institute, Paris, National Institute of Blood Transfusion in Paris, France, University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome, Italy and University of Bonn in Germany.
