Graduate in Chemistry (Licensed Teacher) by the School of Philosophy, Natural Sciences and Literature of Guaxupé (Guaxupé, MG, Brazil, 2000). M.Sc. in analytical chemistry by the Federal University of São Carlos (São Carlos, SP, Brazil, 2006), and Ph.D. in chemistry by Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, NC, USA, 2010). Post-Doctorate at the Department of Chemistry of the Federal University of São Carlos (São Carlos, SP, Brazil, 2010-2012). George has experience in chemistry, with focus on analytical chemistry and chemical education, mainly working in the following topics: calibration methods in analytical chemistry (e.g. MEC, MICal, MSC, SDA); application of atomic spectrometry, combined with machine learning strategies (supervised and unsupervised learning), to study and diagnose diseases (e.g. diabetes mellitus, urinary tract infection); ICP-MS; ICP-OES; MIP-OES; WCAES; WCAAS; trace element analysis; chemical education; and sample preparation for spectrochemical analysis. George is the Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, within the Division of Environmental Health Sciences of the Wadsworth Center (New York State Department of Health), since August 2024, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany since February 2025.
