B.Sc in Metallurgical Engineering (1972), M.Sc in Metallurgical Engineering (1977) and Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering (1983) University of São Paulo, São Paulo. Visiting scholar in the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Institut fur Werkstoffe (1988-1989). Habilitation Thesis (2000) and Tenure Full Professor (2005) at the University of São Paulo. Currently working at the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department of the University of São Paulo, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate levels , advising, research, and consulting. The main research subjects are the structure of metals and alloys, phase transformations, thermal and thermochemical treatments, focusing the following topics: nitrogen in steel, gas and plasma nitriding, PVD coatings, wear of materials, erosion, erosion-corrosion and cavitation-erosion, particularly of stainless steel and tool steels. Over 100 peer reviewed publications, including 3 patents. Currently investigating surface phenomena associated with tribological films. Coordinator of TRIBES - Center for Research in Tribology and Surface Engineering. Fellow of the International Federation of Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
