Professor at the Center for Education at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL). Ph.D. in Psychology (UFSCar) with a sandwich period at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (Supervisor: William McIlvane) and postdoctoral research at the Laboratory of Applied Computing to Education (ICMC-USP). Visiting scholar at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE, Cambridge, MA, US) during the period of 2024 and 2025.My work lies at the intersection of learning processes, Computing (AI), and Education. Currently, I research topics such as behavior analysis, educational informatics, relational learning, literacy, and gamification. My thesis was selected for the Best Thesis Award at PPGPSI UFSCar in 2015. I am the author/co-author of more than 40 publications in journals and conferences in the fields of Learning, Reading, Artificial Intelligence in Education, and accessibility, having published in high-impact venues such as Computers In Human Behavior, the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education, and Smart Learning Environments. I serve as a reviewer for international journals (e.g., Acta Comportamentália, Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence, Smart Learning Environments) in the area of Learning Psychology. I am also a member of the Program Committee for both national and international events (e.g., International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education - AIED, Brazilian Symposium on Human Factors in Computing Systems - IHC, International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies - ICALT, and Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies - LACLO).I am a member of the Brazilian Computing Society, the Association for Computing Machinery - ACM, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - IEEE. My most recent project aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence in the teaching of initial reading skills. I serve as the director of the Center for Excellence in Social Technologies (NEES - IC/UFAL) and was a member of the National Institute of Science and Technology on Behavior, Cognition, and Teaching (ECCE). Since 2017, I have also served as a consultant for the Brazilian Ministry of Education on projects related to the evaluation of educational technologies and digital educational resources (REDs), especially aspects related to accessibility. I coordinate the Accessibility Evaluation of PNLD Works. I also coordinate the agreement between UFAL and São Sebastião for the interinstitutional project "NEES Program for Promoting Educational Equity."
