Research Associate at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) in Washington, D.C., USA, and Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Public Health, University of São Paulo (USP). As an entomologist, he studies Triatominae within the Reduviidae family, focusing on systematics, phylogeny, and morphology. His work has significant implications for public health, particularly concerning Chagas disease. By better understanding the evolution and behavior of these insects, he hopes to develop more effective disease prevention strategies. Additionally, he studies other Reduviidae families to gain further insights into these fascinating insects.With 136 published articles, 16 organized books, and 20 book chapters published, he has extensive experience in the taxonomy of Reduviidae, especially Triatominae. He is a member of four CNPq research groups: Biodiversidade Entomológica da FIOCRUZ; Laboratório de Pesquisas em Artrópodes (LAPA) da FIOCRUZ; Patologia das Doenças Tropicais da Universidade Tiradentes (UNIT, Sergipe); and InSaNa HuNa - Interface entre a Saúde Animal, Ambiental e Humana da Universidade Dom Bosco (UCDB).To get in touch, please email jader.oliveira@unesp.br or jdr.oliveira@hotmail.com.
