Graduated in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Lavras-UFLA (1984), Master in Genetics and Plant Breeding at UFLA (1989) and PhD in Molecular Plant Biology at the University of Louvain (1994), Belgium. Visiting Scholar at the University of Melbourne, Australia (2003) and Ohio State University, USA (2016-2017). Full Professor, Department of Genetics, Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo (USP), CNPq Researcher 1A, Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo, President of the Brazilian Society of Genetics ( 2018-2020), Commander of the National Order of Scientific Merit (2018), Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies at USP. Full Member of CTNBio (2005-2007), Coordinator of CAPES Biological Sciences I (2008-2011). Director of International Relations (2011-2012) and Director of Programs and Scholarships (2012-2016) of CAPES. President of the National Forum of Dean of Research and PostGraduate Studies (FOPROP). Has experience in Genetics, focusing on Molecular Plant Genetics, acting on the following subjects: intracellular protein transport and plant-insect-pathogen interactions.
