Bachelor in Eletrical Engineering by Escola Politécnica of the Universidade de São Paulo (1968), M.Eng. is Systems´ Engineering (1972) by the same Intitution Universidade de São Paulo and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from The University of Califórnia-Berkeley (1977). Recepient (2011) of The IBM Faculty Award. In February 2013 retired from his position as Full Professor at The University of São Paulo.Has experience in Computer Science, acting mainly in the following subjects: computer networks, optimization, manufacturing systems´control, globa loptimization and performance bounds. He was Visiting Research Professor at UIUC. He was council/board member of several Brazilian professional Associations among which he was President of tha Brazilian Applied Math Society (SBMAC) and treasurer of the Brazilina O.R. Society (SOBRAPO) Until 1988 his commitment to University was part-time and he exercized positivos as consultant (with projects out of Brasil) and as na executive. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
