Holds a degree in Biological Oceanography from the Federal University of Rio Grande (1991), a master's degree in Biological Oceanography from the Federal University of Rio Grande (1995), and a Ph.D. in Aquatic Biosciences from the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (formerly Tokyo University of Fisheries) (2000), as well as Sabbatical Leaves (Senior Fellowship/Postdoctoral) at James Cook University, Australia (2016), and Curtin University/TAFE, Western Australia (2023). Currently a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Aquaculture at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Mônica Tsuzuki was a Visiting Full Professor at the State University of Santa Cruz (UESC), Bahia, working on marine fish production in fisherman communities.Has experience in Mariculture, with an emphasis on the cultivation of ornamental marine fish and those for consumption, focusing mainly on the following topics: Aquaculture; Conservation; Threatened and native species; Marine food fish (Robalo-peva Centropomus paralleus); Marine ornamental fish (seahorses Hippocampus reidi, Brazilian basslet Gramma brasiliensis, angelfish Centropyge aurantonotus, Holacanthus ciliaris, neon goby Elacatinus figaro, clownfish); Alternative live feeds (copepods, ciliated protozoa).
