Graduation in Mechanical Engineering at Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos / Universidade de São Paulo (1971), M.Sc. in Materials Engineering at University of Southampton (1978), Ph.D in Materials Engineering at University of Southampton (1980), Post-Doctoral degree at the Materials Engineering Department - University of Wales-Swansea (1998-2000). He is currently retired as Associate Professor at Universidade Federal de São Carlos, where he remained during 42 years in the Engineering Materials Department. He has expertise in Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering on the following subjects: a) creep properties of ferritic steels, stainless steels, refractory steels and superalloys; b) superplasticity behaviour; c) development of equipment for testing at high temperatures; d) interaction between oxidation and creep; e) equivalence between hot tensile tests and creep tests; f) mechanical testing in general: tensile, compression, flexion, hardness, torsion, fatigue, creep, stress relaxation, etc.; g) remaining life studies for high temperature equipments; h) structural integrity studies for high temperature equipments. Technical consultant in the Creep Laboratory of the company STM-Systems for Testing of Materials Ltd., since 1988, aiming at the development of a laboratory with high capacity in the generation of data and analysis of creep results for research centers in universities and industrial companies working with high temperature engineering in Brazil.
