Joaquim José Martins Guilhoto is economist at OECD and Professor of Economics at the School of Economics, Management and Accounting at the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP), Brazil. He was Associated Dean at FEA-USP from 2014 to 2016 and Head of the Department of Economics at FEA-USP from 2005 to 2009 and from 2012 to 2014. He was a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, College of Agriculture, at the University of São Paulo (ESALQ-USP) from 1989 to 2003. He was Visiting Professor at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), University of Illinois, University Paris-Dauphine, and University of Lisbon. He holds a B.A. (1981) form the University of São Paulo, and a M.Sc.(1984) and Ph.D. (1986) in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He works as a researcher and professor, being specialized in regional economics and environmental studies, having input-output analysis as the main tool of research. He has more than 300 works published nationally and internationally in his field of research, including books, papers, and books´ chapters. The Master and Ph.D. dissertations, already defended and advised by Prof. Guilhoto in his field of expertise are more than 30. He is a member, among others, of the Brazilian Association of Regional Studies (ABER), Regional Science Association International (RSAI), and International Input Output Association (IIOA).
