Marcelo Reis Nakashima has a degree in Geography from the State University of Maringá obtained in 2009. During the graduation, served as teaching assistant in General Geology course, and also as an intern in the Pedology Laboratory of the Department of Geography, working with laboratory analysis and field monitor of the Applied Pedology course. Was granted a CNPq scholarship in 2009 (PIBIC), working on a project entitled "Resistance to agricultural modernization in the municipality of Marialva-PR" and developed, as a graduation monography, a work entitled "Proposal for edaphoclimatic characterization in the toposequence of Ribeirão do Quintinho, Paranavaí-PR ?. Obtained his master's degree in Physical Geography in 2013, at the University of São Paulo, under the guidance of Prof. Emeritus José Pereira de Queiroz Neto. Defended a master's dissertation entitled "Genesis of ferric red Nitosols in the Miringuava stream basin, Maringá - PR", on June 27, 2013. Was granted a Fapesp scholarship during the master's degree (process no. 2010 / 12996-5). Completed his doctorate in Physical Geography in 2017, at the University of São Paulo, under the guidance of Prof. Emeritus José Pereira de Queiroz Neto, defending a doctoral thesis entitled "PETAR: geography, contradictions and development", on November 27, 2017. Was granted a Fapesp scholarship during his doctorate (process no. 2013 / 24595-3). During the doctorate period, he did a Research Internship Abroad at the University of Kansas, USA, where he developed part of his research project entitled "Landscape dynamics and evolution at Alto Ribeira Tourist State Park", under the supervision of Professor John Christopher Brown. The Research Internship Scholarship Abroad (BEPE) was financed by Fapesp (Process No. 2016 / 10640-5). He has been a member of the Nostradamos research group since 2010 and participated in a research project entitled "Geomorphological-pedological evolution of foothills in the state of São Paulo", funded by Fapesp (Process No. 2016 / 08722-3). He has a certificate and proficiency in English from the University of Miami, USA. He is a reviwer of the journal "Geousp: espaço e tempo" (Qualis A1) and of the ?Revista do Departamento de Geografia USP? (Qualis A2). Works mainly in the areas of Pedology, Geomorphology, Geosystems, Landscape Analysis, Conservation Units, Socio-environmental Dynamics, Regional Geography and traditional Populations. Currently a guest professor in the Graduate Program in Physical Geography at the University of São Paulo, teaching the discipline of Structural Analysis of Pedological Coverage.
