Graduated in Mechanical Engineering (1978) and Specialization in Machine Tools and Manufacturing (1978) by the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo; Specialization in Informatics (1978) by the Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Informatics of São Carlos; Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the São Carlos School of Engineering at the University of São Paulo (1988) and Doctorate in Maschinenbau (Mechanical Engineering) from Technische Universität Darmstadt (1995). He served as University Professor at the Methodist University of Piracicaba and Director of the Laboratory of Computer Integrated Design and Manufacturing. From January to May 2011, he did a post-doctorate at Technische Universität Darmstadt in the Fachgebiet Datenverarbeitung in der Konstruktion, and from June 2011 to May 2012 he served as a Visiting Professor (Mercator Gastprofessur - DFG) in the same Department. From February to July 2015, he served as Guest Professor at the Institut für Maschinenelemente und Maschinenkonstruktion of Technische Universität Dresden. He is a member of ABCM, Abepro, SBPC, VDI, Verein der Freunde des PTW eV, Vereinigung von Freunden der TUD eV and Verein der Freunde der DiK eV and the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) from 2010 to 2020. Member of the editorial board from the International Journal of Machining and Machinability of Materials, from Production Engineering - Research and Development and reviewer of several national and international journals and conferences. His research lines are Industry 4.0, Digital Factory, Integrated Product Development, Product Management, and High-Speed Machining. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
