Graduated in Pedagogy from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1964), master in Education from Faculty of Education of Unviversidade de São Paulo (1977) and PhD in Education at the same university (1987). She is currently retired professor at Universidade de São Paulo. Has experience in Education, acting mainly with the History of Education in Brazil, on the following topics: History of education in the nineteenth century, Republicans and education, Francisco Rangel Pestana, Protestantism and education, women education.
