Angélica Aparecida Tanus Benatti Alvim

Architect and Urban Planner (Faculdade de Belas Artes de São Paulo, 1986), with a Masters and PhD in Architecture and Urbanism (Universidade de São Paulo FAU/USP, 1996; 2003). Full Professor at the Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo of Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, where she has been teaching in the undergraduate Architecture and Urbanism program since 1991, and has been a permanent faculty member of the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo since 2005. She is a full member of the Comitê de Assessoramento do CNPq Arquitetura e Urbanismo, Demografia, Geografia Humana e Regional, Geografia Física, Planejamento Urbano e Turismo (CA-SA), subarea Arquitetura e Urbanismo, for the term 01/07/2024 to 30/06/2027.She served as Director of FAU Mackenzie (20162023); General Coordinator for Graduate Studies Stricto Sensu at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (20132016); Coordinator of the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo at FAU-Mackenzie (20102013); and Research Coordinator at FAU-Mackenzie (20082010). She was President of the Associação Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo ANPARQ (20152016), Director of ANPARQ (20142015), member of the Fiscal Council (20172018), and chaired the Prêmio ANPARQ 2020.Author of numerous articles published in national and international journals, her academic work is recognized in the fields of informal settlement urbanization, territorial justice, sustainable urban planning, and responses to the climate emergency. She organized the following books: Alvim e Castro. Avaliação de Políticas Urbanas: contexto e perspectivas (Editoras Mackpesquisa e Romano Guerra, 2010); Alvim, Abascal e Abrunhosa. She coordinates research projects that integrate urban sustainability, climate resilience, and social innovation, with emphasis on: Emergência Climática e Políticas Públicas nas Cidades Brasileiras (MackPesquisa; CNPq/Faixa B, 20252027) and Planos e Projetos Urbanos para Cidades Brasileiras: desafios da resiliência em áreas protegidas (CNPq PQ, 20222025). She also participates in the INCT Klimapolis (a Brazil-Germany cooperation on sustainable urban transitions) and in initiatives focused on environmental justice, green infrastructure, and participatory mapping.
