Rosana Machin Barbosa

Graduate at Social Science (1985), master's degree (1992) and PhD in Sociology (1999), all from the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo/USP. Postdoctoral at the University of London - The London School of Economics and Political Science/LSE at BIOS - Center for The Study of Bioscience, Biomedicine, Biotechnology and Society and at the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Politics, Psychology, Sociology and International Studies at the Center for Family Research as a CNPq fellow (2011/12). She is a professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo. She is a member of the Ethics Committee for analyzing research projects at the Faculty of Medicine. She is the leader of the Study and Research Group on Bodies, Technologies and Health (CORTES), at the University of São Paulo/USP. She is part of the research group Health, Intersectionality and Social Markers of Difference (SIMAS), at the University of São Paulo / USP. She was a visiting professor at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) (2023), as a CAPES fellow. She is coordinator of the Red Latina de Investigadores en Biotecnologias Reproductivas (REDLIBRE). She has experience in the area of Sociology, with an emphasis on Sociology of Health, working mainly on the following topics: concepts and practices in health and illness, reproductive technologies, body and corporeality, gender, class, race/ethnicity.
