Carlos Alberto Ferreira Martins

Full Professor (2006), researcher, Master's and Doctorate advisor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism at USP São Carlos, of which he was founder and first Director (2011-16). Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (1974), Master in Social History from the FFLCH of the University of São Paulo (1988), Doctor from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura - Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (1992) and Livre-Docente by EESC USP (1998). He coordinated ArqBras / Lablat- Research Group in Architecture and Urbanism in Brazil and Latin America between 1994 and 2019. He was president of ANPARQ-National Association for Research and Postgraduate Studies in Architecture and Urbanism (2007-10). He chaired the Board of Superintendence of Physical Space at USP (2018-22) and was a member of the Editorial Board of EDUSP (2016-22). He was a member of the Board of Trustees of UFSCar-Federal University of São Carlos (2014-2020). He is president of the Board of Trustees of UFSCar- Federal University of São Carlos (2020-26) Member of the Editorial Boards of Revista Risco (IAU USP) and Arquitextos (Vitruvius), AP Continuidad (UN Rosário, Argentina) and the Advisory Board of the Foro de History of Architecture (Mexico). He coordinated the Fontes da Arquitetura Moderna collection by Editora CosacNaify (2003-2006). Lecturer or guest professor (short-term courses) at Brazilian and international institutions, such as PROURB_UFRJ, UFPb, USJT, FAU USP, FAU UnB, UNLP, UFSM Valparaiso, PUC Santiago, Universidad de Navarra, IUAV, Politécnico de Milano. He has experience in research and supervision (27 MsC and 11 PhD completed) in the area of Architecture and Urbanism, with an emphasis on History of Architecture and Urbanism, working mainly on the following themes: architecture and urbanism of the European vanguards and modern architecture and urbanism in Brazil and in Latin America.
