Eduardo T. Costa graduated in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Computer Science from the Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos of the Universidade of São Paulo (1978), Master in Electrical Engineering, research on Biomedical Engineering, from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1985) and PhD in Medical Engineering & Physics at King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of London (1989). He is Full Professor of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Faculty of Electrical and Computing Engineering (DEB/FEEC) of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and was Director of the Center for Biomedical Engineering (CEB) of the same university (mandates 2005-2008 and 2008-2011). He was President of the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering (SBEB) from 2002 to 2004. Elected Board member of the Council of SBEB for the term 2006-2008 and re-elected to the same Council for the period 01/01/2009-31/12/2010, this time exercising its presidency. He was again elected President of SBEB for the period 01/01/2011 to 31/12/2012. He was member of Advisory Committee of CNPq (CA-EE) on Electrical and Biomedical Engineering for the period 2011-2014. He has experience in the field of Biomedical Engineering, with emphasis on medical instrumentation, working in both graduate teaching and research on the following subjects: ultrasound transducers and instrumentation, acoustic field simulation, generation, propagation, attenuation and detection of ultrasonic waves, signal processing and medical imaging, and the development of diagnostic aid instrumentation.He lectures undergraduate courses in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.
