graduated in Geography at the University of São Paulo - USP (1977). Received a master degree in Geography at the Universidade of São Paulo - USP in 1984. By 1993, concluded his PhD. in Geography at the University of São Paulo. Since 1992 is professor at this same university and has been working on issues such as regionalism, statecraft, federalism, frontiers and global geopolitics. In 2001, the brazilian Foreign Relations department awarded him the title of Rio Branco Order officer for his academic accomplishments. Many of his papers and books bring back some of the issues discussed by the classical south american geopolitical thought. His main book is Fronteiras e Nações (Frontiers and Nations), which is in its 5th. edition. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
