Ruy de Quadros Carvalho

Bachelor in Business Administration from EAESP - Getulio Vargas Foundation - SP (1974), Master's in Political Science from the State University of Campinas (1980), Ph.D. in Development Studies from the University of Sussex (1993), and Livre-docência from the State University of Campinas (2002). He is a Full Professor at UNICAMP, leader of the Technology and Innovation Management Laboratory, and the creator of the Specialization Course in Strategic Management of Technological Innovation. He is a member of the Technical-Scientific Council of the Eldorado Institute. He previously worked as a Planning and Research Technician and Technical Director at IPEA/Ministry of Planning. His expertise lies in the areas of Administration and Economics of innovation. He is dedicated to research, teaching, and consulting in innovation and technology management, examining their implications for competitive strategy and company performance. His research includes the adoption of models, tools, and organizational forms related to the management of innovation in products, processes, and business models within the context of digital transformation. He has also investigated various topics related to open innovation, such as global innovation networks, innovation ecosystems, and corporate engagement with startups. He has supervised 15 doctoral theses and 20 master's dissertations. His articles have been published in journals such as Sustainability, Research Policy, Journal of Technology Management Innovation, International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development, Technology Forecasting and Social Change, Research Evaluation, Cadernos EBAPE.BR, Revista de Administração Contemporânea, RAI, and RA-USP, in addition to books and book chapters published both in Brazil and abroad. He has provided technical support for innovation management processes in various companies and has served as a consultant for national and international organizations. In 2018, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Innovation Management from ANPAD (National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Administration) in its inaugural edition.
