Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Biological Sciences at UNESP-Botucatu (São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho). He completed his master's and doctorate at the Department of Morphology and Genetics - UNIFESP, with a focus on Psychiatric Genetics and large-scale genomic analysis. During his PhD, he conducted a 1-year research internship at the MRC - Social, Genetics & Developmental Psychiatry Center at Kings College London, where he improved his training in bioinformatics and large-scale genetic and epigenetic data analysis. He has a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Psychiatry at UNIFESP in which he investigated the transcriptome and polygenic risk score for a longitudinal cohort of children and adolescents at risk for psychiatric disorders. During his postdoctoral studies, he worked as a visiting researcher for 1 year at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT and at Massachusetts General Hospital with a FAPESP scholarship, investigating new approaches to apply the polygenic risk score in admixed populations. He was a visiting professor at the Graduate Program in Structural and Functional Biology at UNIFESP from 11/2019 to 11/2021. He is Assistant Professor at the Molecular Biology Division in the Department of Biochemistry - UNIFESP. His main areas of expertise are bioinformatics, genetics and molecular biology, with a focus on risk markers for psychiatric diseases, including polygenic risk scoring and epigenetic regulation by miRNAs.
