He graduated in Nursing from Joseph School of Nursing (1979), Specialization Course in Pediatric Nursing and Child Care Nursing Department of Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM) (1981), Specialization Course in Intensive Care Nursing in EEUSP (1982) and Empowerment in Nursing Degree from the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) of São Paulo (1988). Master of Social Pediatric Nursing and the Nursing Department, EPM (1993) and Ph.D. in Nursing from the School of Nursing (1999). He is currently a Full Professor at the University of Sao Paulo.
