Luis Geraldo Pedroso Meloni

Luís G. P. Meloni is a professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and the coordinator of the Real-Time Digital Signal Processing Laboratory (RT-DSP). He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Campinas (1982), and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nancy I, France (1985). He was also a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Brasília. He was one of the founders of the Colégio Integral de Campinas. He served on the Council of the Brazilian Digital Television Forum and coordinated the Working Group on the Interactivity Channel within the forum. He has extensive experience in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with an emphasis on telecommunications systems, focusing primarily on the following research topics: wireless communications, real-time digital signal processing, algorithms and routing protocols for IoT, open middleware for energy management systems, machine learning for power systems, optimization of algorithms for embedded systems on FPGA, DSP, and ASIC, software-defined radio, quaternion algebra in telecommunications, interactive digital TV, audio processing, video processing, voice encoding and recognition, software tools for teaching, and network management. At FEEC, he served as the extension and innovation coordinator for two terms and was the head of the Communications Department. He has led several research projects in collaboration with private companies and government agencies. In addition to his academic experience, he previously worked in various companies in the telecommunications field, with emphasis on Sid Telecom SA, as head of the Communications Security Research Center at ABIN, and Zetax Tecnologia SA (a Lucent Technologies company).
