Electrical Engineering (1982) and MsC in Electric Engineering (1988) from Universidade de São Paulo. Ph.D in Electrical Engineeringfrom University of London (1993). He is nowadays a full professor at the University of Sao Paulo where he lectures since 1983. He is senior member in the IEEE, acts as reviewer in many scientific journals and is the representative for CIRED in Brazil. His interests cover mainly transmission and distribution systems, especially in the following subjects: power quality, optimization and smart grids. He coordinates the Center for Power Quality and Regulation Studies and the Research Center in Smart Energy Grids in the University of Sao Paulo. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
