José Roberto Santin holds a degree in Pharmacy-Biochemistry from the Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina, a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Vale do Itajai, with an emphasis on Natural Products and Bioactive Substances, and a PhD in Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (FCF/USP), with a focus on Toxicology and Toxicological Analysis. Currently, he is a professor at the School of Health Sciences at the University of Vale do Itajaí (UNIVALI), where he works in the Postgraduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, supervising Master's and Doctoral students. He is an active member, past president (2022-2024), and current vice-president (2024-2026) of the Brazilian Society of Toxicology (SBTOX), a member of the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF), a member of the Brazilian Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (SBFTE), coordinator of the Toxicology Working Group of the Federal Council of Pharmacy (CFF), and a member of the Technical Chamber of Drug Registration (CATEME/ANVISA). His research focuses on investigating the mechanisms involved in the control of leukocyte migration to inflammatory sites, the action of xenobiotics on the body's response to trauma, as well as the pharmacological and toxic mechanisms of new molecules or natural products for therapeutic use.
