Birthplace: Brazil

I'm a Sociology professor at the Sociology department at the University of São Paulo (USP), a top-ranked university in Brazil and Latin America. I have founded and currently coordinate IMPAR, a humanities lab focusing on gender, sexuality and critical family studies. I'm currently a fellow for the Summer School of Social Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Studies at Princeton, New Jersey (2024-2025). My main research interests are in the fields of Critical Family Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies and Sociology of Knowledge and Science. I'm especially concerned with disputes and tensions between the knowledge production spaces (in academia, social movements, within the family) and the political arena, and I investigate the connections between the symbolic dimensions of social life and the concrete social practices, mediated by institutions. I'm also drawn to Psychoanalysis and Philosophy (mostly dialectics, hegelian and post-hegelian philosophy and connections between philosophy and feminist and sexuality studies).I was formerly a post-doc researcher at the Anthropology Department of USP - University of São Paulo and a member of Mecila Centre's thematic working groups on conservatisms program, with Jacqueline Teixeira (USP), Rosana Pinheiro-Machado (U. Bath, UK) and Eric Fassin (Paris 8, France). I was also an invited professor at FLACSO (Latin American Social Sciences College) in Rio de Janeiro, where I taught research methods, and an invited researcher/professor at Gerar Psychoanalysis Institute in São Paulo (SP), where I collaborated with the Gender, Feminism and Psychoanalysis department. From 2018 to 2020, I was also a fellow at Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung's German Chancellor Fellowship for Tomorrow's Leaders.I hold a PhD in Education (Social Sciences and Education) obtained in 2018 at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), another top-ranked Latin American university. During my PhD I've worked with Gisèle Sapiro and Ioana Cirstocea at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), in Paris, and in with Gustavo Sorá at the Anthropology Museum of the National University of Córdoba (UNC) in Argentina. I hold a BA in Social Sciences (2009) and a MA in Education (Social Sciences and Eductaion) also from Unicamp. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
