Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Bahia (1994), master's degree (1997) and doctorate (2001) in Public Health from the Federal University of Bahia. She is a PhD professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (USP). Between 2013 and 2020 she was coordinator of the Collaborating Center of the World Health Organization, of the Center for the Study of Violence at USP, in the area of violence and violence prevention. Between 2002 and 2020 she was a researcher associated with the Center for the Study of Violence at USP, acting as a research coordinator between 2006 and 2010. Member of the Violence Prevention Alliance, of the Brazilian Association of Public Health (ABRASCO) and of the ABRASCO Violence and Health WG. She has experience in the field of Public Health, with an emphasis on Epidemiology, acting mainly on the following themes: homicides, adolescence and youth, prevention of violence.
