The aim of this project is to complete some works with Fernando Torres. These include the study of curves over finite fields with many poinbts, a characterization of the Ree curve, and the consideration of the Weierstrass semigroups at certain optimal towers of curves. (AU)

The aim of this project is to study curves over finite fields with many rational points.First we are going to extend some known results about maximal curves. And in the second part we consider optimal curves.
Part of this project focus on obtaining and characterizing new curves over finite fields and with many rational points. The study of the arc property of curves attaining the Hasse-Weil bound and certain Frobenius non-classical curves is another point of our investigation. The application in Coding Theory is one of the motivations of this work.
The purpose of this project is to study the problem of estimating the number of rational points on algebraic curves defined over finite fields. Consider a projective, irreducible, non-singular, algebraic curve defined over a finite field Fq.
